furtive gusto, and

    we laughed along,

        gripped it between her

away to lunge for the kill -

This is a critique for <img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/w/r/w…" alt=":iconwriters--club:" title="Writers--club" />

Reading through the comments on this piece, I see that you're not putting up a description. That's fine by me, because this lack of explanation actually highlights what I think is the best thing about this poem- its wide-open range of interpretations. There is enough detail that the reader gets an idea, an image in their head, but there are also enough gaps and details that seem to be metaphors to keep things far from definite. The details you do provide- colors, actions, sounds- are vivid, bright, and interesting. The audience becomes more involved in the poem because it makes them consider different possibilities as they read.

I also like how gracefully this poem is written. There is a good balance of description and action taking turns in a natural, unforced rhythm. Nothing feels clunky- instead, the whole piece is light and somewhat fanciful.

If there was anything that I'd change about this piece, it might be the formatting. The font size is fine, but the first stanza looks kind of wobbly. I'm not saying that it absolutely has to be changed, though, because it looks better when you look at it and the lines in the description all at once. It's just that it looks a bit off at first glance, before you realize that the poem keeps going below.

This is a really interesting, almost soothing poem to read. Please keep writing!
